This year, 2018, the Chaet Family enters its 90th year of collision repair.  Three generations have proudly served the Boston area with superior auto body work, customer service, and an unbeatable guarantee.

The generational history begins with Paul’s grandfather, Dave, opening up shop in 1928.  By 1961, the operation had moved to 420 Cambridge Street, Allston with Paul’s father Mick at the helm.  In 2000, Paul Chaet and I took the reins and have been proud to remember the footsteps of the past. We have made our mark in the present as a leader in eco-friendly, up-to-date operations and equipment, while looking for new opportunities to remain a leader in innovation and expertise for the future.

I was interviewed in 2008 about the choice to go green and my original response holds true ten years later.  My quote was, “Despite collision shops not being perceived as on the forefront of the green movement, our dedication to reducing hazardous waste, protecting our environment and our community has always been a priority”.  Paul and I have been proud leaders. Both the former Mayor of Boston and Governor of Massachusetts were kind enough to recognize our work early on, bestowing us awards for our green efforts.

We hope it’s obvious to our customers the continued commitment to the green movement, utmost quality and excellent service. Our team strives for this result, so we offer this guarantee; Allston Collision Center, Inc. will guarantee quality repairs until you sell the vehicle.

In recognition of environmental and business leadership, the Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA) program named Allston Collision Center as a TURA 25th Anniversary Leader. The award recognizes companies that have reduced toxic chemical use, created healthier work environments and saved money.

The TURA 25th Anniversary Leaders include:
Allston Collision Center, Allston
Analog Devices, Wilmington
ChemGenes Corporation, Wilmington
Columbia Manufacturing Inc., Westfield
Franklin Paint Company, Franklin
Independent Plating, Worcester
Ophir Optronics, North Andover
Shawmut Corp., West Bridgewater
Stainless Steel Coatings Inc., Lancaster
Vida Verde Women’s Cooperative, Brighton
Wet Cleaning Workgroup (9 dry cleaners)

“These companies highlight that Toxics Use Reduction can be applied to small family-owned businesses to large high-tech corporations,” says Director of the Toxics Use Reduction Institute Michael Ellenbecker. “I congratulate all of these leaders for their forward thinking to attract customers with their greener solutions and create safer work environments.”

Massachusetts leads the nation in reducing use, waste and emissions of toxic chemicals

The Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA) law of 1989 requires that companies evaluate toxic chemical use, submit usage reports and assess the financial implications of switching to safer alternatives. Companies choose whether or not they make any changes. Massachusetts companies continue to make progress in reducing toxic chemical use and waste – between 2000 and 2012, they reduced use by 23 percent, waste by 42 percent and on-site releases by 73 percent. Under the updated 2006 TURA law, companies have also conserved energy, materials and water.

About the Toxics Use Reduction Act Program

Twenty-five years ago, the Massachusetts legislature passed landmark legislation—the Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA). Today, the TURA Program is considered a model environmental policy by other states and countries. The three agencies below have provided training, grants, technical assistance and support to help companies reduce toxic chemical use and costs, improve health and safety and compete globally as more international regulations restrict the use of toxic substances.

Ever think an auto body shop could change its “treadprint” to Green?

We’ve done it! Allston Collision Center, Boston’s premier collision repair specialist for three generations, is proud to announce it has gone Green. With the introduction of Aquabase Plus, a waterborne paint system, Allston Collision Center now saves over 1200 lbs. of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), a.k.a. hazardous waste. This is the equivalent of eliminating emissions for more than 5000 cars per year.

In addition to the Aquabase Plus, Allston Collision Center utilizes the most current recycling systems for thinners, solvents, aluminum, sheet metal, plastic bumpers and batteries. Our recycling efforts have always produced a reduction in our carbon footprint, however, with the addition of Aquabase Plus, we have increased our reduction by an additional 60%!

“Despite collision shops not being perceived as on the forefront of the green movement, our dedication to reducing hazardous waste and protecting our environment and our community has always been a priority” says Elaine M. O’Neill, President of Allston Collision Center. “We will continue our dedication to be on the cutting edge of eco-friendly technology for collision repair shops.”

For more information on how Allston Collision Center is expanding its sustainable business strategies contact: Elaine M. O’Neill, President or Paul Chaet, General Manager.
